Camp NaNoWriMo Writing

Camp NaNo Update + Snippets!

I don’t know if your aware but it’s July which mean Camp NaNoWriMo is happening. That means crazy chats in the cabin and lots and lots of writing! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi everyone!ย I’m back again and today I am updating you on how my Camp NaNoWriMo goal and novel (Newborn Faith) is going! Plus there will also be some snippets! ๐Ÿ˜‰

About my novel:

Jane is a 15 year old girl who lives in the country with her parents (Joshua and Ashley Williams) and 3 other siblings: Daniel (13), Susanna (11) and Mason (8). When her city girl of a cousin, Diana (also 15) comes to visit, Jane is not so thrilled.

Helping out on the farm is hard for Diana. But as she becomes more tolerant of the chores she has to do, she also learns about God. Jane’s family are Christians so they are more than happy to teach her. Many mishaps occur along the way and they all learn a lot. Then a “care package” comes from Diana’s Mother aka Aunt Jilly (to Jane) and with this, some cupcakes from Diana’s favorite bakery back in Manhattan.

I think at some point, I should re-write the synopsis ๐Ÿ˜‰ What do you think?

My goal this July is 1,800 minutes (30 hours)

Camp NaNo stats!
As you can see, I’m a little behind ๐Ÿ˜‰

Day 1 (7/1/18)

Nothing. I was gone on a trip. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Day 2 (7/2/18)

Nothing. We actually ended up coming back a day early but we still didn’t get home til about 8

(pictures on that trip in another post!)

Day 3 (7/3/18)

10 minutes.

I don’t even know what happened here. XD I guess we were just busy from unpacking and washing everything and catching up and stuff like that. *shrugs*

Day 4 (7/4/18)

Happy Independence Day!

Today I got 50 minutes of writing done. That makes 60 minutes total. Man, writing one hour a day and keeping up with life at the same time is harder than I thought it would be XD

(pictures from the 4th coming in another post!)

This morning I also did a sprint (my first sprint of July!) with Enni and Jo!ย I’m not actually sure who won, but I’m pretty sure it was Enni XD

Day 5 (7/5/18)

So according to my sloppy notes, I did “lots of sprints with Jo” yet only got in 28 minutes of writing…?

Maybe we did two half sprints or something, I don’t know. Anyway 28 minutes still isn’t very good…

Total time up to this point is 88 minutes.

Day 6 (7/6/18)

Today I got my total time up to 179 minutes with (I think) 91 minutes of work!! That’s a lot better XD

In the morning I did a sprint with Tess and Jo!

And I worked a few different things today! My novel, my CPC entry, and organizing my novel notes on Google Docs

By the way, my goal this year isn’t just for my novel, it’s also for all my other projects that involve writing such as care packages, my novel, other novels (if I get around to that XD), a writing project I’m doing with my sister and friend, CPC, organizing my notes, and all that stuff!

Moving on.

Day 7 (7/7/18)

We are now one week into Camp NaNo!

Today I finished up my CPC entry (Challenge 3) and got my total time up to 208 minutes. (29 minutes of work)

Wow. I didn’t realize until now what a bad job I was doing at this ๐Ÿ™ makes me all the more motivated to catch up! *rubs hands together* ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 8 (7/8/18)

Today I wrote in my novel and did a fun scene for earlier on in the book!

I also did some sprints but I didn’t write down who with ๐Ÿ™ anyway, I got my time up to 276 minutes!

So 68 minutes is pretty good!

Day 9 (7/9/18)

Today I did a morning sprint with Julia (Julia Herkel, sorry there’s like 3 Julia’s in our cabin XD) and Jo!

And then later on I did an afternoon sprint with Tess!

I was able to write 60 minutes that day so that was good!

Day 10 (7/10/18)

I did a morning sprint today with Rebekah and Jo!

And I got in 56 minutes of work! So close to an hour… oh well at least this is better than the beginning of the month!

Day 11 (7/11/18)

During the morning, Jo,ย Julia (Rose), Rebekah, and I sprinted on and off!

Today I got 49 minutes of work done. Again so close, kinda!

Day 12 (7/12/18)

I don’t think I got very much work done yesterday… let me check.

Though it was my 1 year blogoversary!! I am hosting a giveaway, so if you haven’t checked out that post please do so here!!

I did do a sprint in the afternoon with Sapphire and Enni so that counts for something ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yeah, I only got a half hour in. Oh well!

By the way, all these “sprints” I’m talking on about are word sprints which my cabin mates and I do on MyWriteClub!ย Go check it out, it’s really fun!

I’m definitely going to try and catch up this coming week! ๐Ÿ™‚

Snippets!

“These hamburgers are amazing, Josh!” Mom commented. But then again, she said that about everyoneโ€™s hamburgers.

For two reasons. One, she was just that kind of person, happy, cheerful, loving, and full compliments. Two, hamburgers were just about her favorite thing — no, food — in the world. Not that I blamed her on that one, they were pretty delicious!

Mom grabbed the water bottles. “We’re leaving now. You two girls are in charge. I’ll give a phone call later but I’m not sure when we’ll be back. Let the other two kids sleep and make breakfast for them when they wake up.” she gave us each a quick hug and then left, going the same way Dad and Mason went.

“Be praying!” she called back.

โ€œOh dear… these are peanuts!โ€ Mom murmured, casting a pitying and yet slightly disappointed look towards Diana.

โ€œIt was my fault, then.โ€

It wasnโ€™t a question, it was simply a realization and statement of that newly found fact.

Wait who’s allergic to peanuts? I mean, what? I didn’t say anything. No, nothing! XD

      1. I KNOW!!! I’m so excited!!
After I finish, I’m gonna take a break from it and edit it in probably September, maybe!

  1. You’re doing a great job with Camp, Liz! Your story sounds like so much fun! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing snippets of it <3

  2. You and I are both struggling with the hours. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I decided to try for 40 hours because that would only be like 2 hours a day, right?? Then I was so smart and skipped a week. I am scrambling to catch up. BUT THEN I went and spent yesterday reading. *glares at self*ย

I enjoy doing sprints, though. I don’t reallyย sprint, seeing as I’m still plotting… but it’s fun! ๐Ÿ˜†

I always like reading Camp updates, especially when the bloggers are in my cabin because there are so many Julia’s in our cabin. ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

I have 10 hours done so far, which means 30 left. I meant to get a bunch done yesterday, but then I left to the library and got a book… obviously I never came back to the computer. ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

And those were great snippets, by the way. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. It’s hard!! XD Yeah I think I did that once or twice too *facepalm*
      It is fun! ๐Ÿ˜€
Me too! (are you gonna do one? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) Yeah XD
You’re making progress! Oh books XD
      Awe, thank you!

  3. You are doing fabulous, Liz! *hug* It’s cool how you’re counting by minutes — I tried tracking by hours last Camp session but couldn’t do it. Rock on, you!!
    And sweet snippets. ๐Ÿ˜€
