Camp NaNoWriMo: I’m writing a novel???

HELLO! How’s everyone doing today? Most likely all of you have heard someone talking on their blog about Camp NaNoWriMo or Camp NaNo or NaNoWriMo or something like that… but what is Camp NaNo?

Camp NaNo is a writing event where you can set yourself a goal, it could be in pages, words, hours, lines or minutes. It happens twice a year in April and July.

The real NaNoWriMo happens in November where you have to write 50,000 words. If you make your goal you win!ย  *cheers*

You can also be in a cabin with your friends or just other writers.

I decided to do Camp NaNo for the first time about ten days before it started and right now I am at 8090 words. ๐Ÿ˜€

If you have a goal for 50,000 words you have to write roughly 1,667 words (I think) a day to make your goal.

Now onto my book-

Title: She’s a coming from Manhattan (temporary title)

I just changed the title. Like yesterday. It used to be The Dreaded Cupcakes.

I really did not like the name the Dreaded Cupcakes so I changed it. I’ll probably give it a final name after I finish writing it.

Goal: 50,000 words

A Synopsis:

Jane is a 15 year old girl who lives in the country on a farm with her parents (Joshua and Ashley Williams) and 3 other siblings: Daniel (13), Susanna (11) and Mason (8). When her city girl of a cousin, Diana (also 15) comes to visit, Jane is not so thrilled. Helping out on the farm is hard for Diana. But as she becomes more tolerant of the chores she has to do, she also learns about God. Jane’s family are Christians so they are more than happy to teach her. Many mishaps occur along the way and they all learn a lot. Then a care package comes from Diana’s Mother aka Aunt Jilly (to Jane) and with this, some cupcakes from Diana’s favorite bakery back in Manhattan.

So yes that is what my novel is about. Comment and ask me if you have any other questions about Camp NaNo or my book because I would be more than happy to help.

Also a tip: Use My Write Clubย for word sprinting because it is so fun to do with your cabinmates, I have done several and wrote many words from them! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sprints occur every half hour, they last for twenty-five minutes and you get a five minute break in between.

Also Starling is holding a contest and since I can’t join because of Camp NaNo I told her that I would add it onto my Friday post on my blog.

It lasts for 7 Mondays and here is her explanation of how it works:

The Happy-And-Random-Posts Contest is a contest in which you have to post about a happy and random topic which I will give. The point of this contest is to make the world a happier place because I think we all need a little bit of that now. I decided not to make it a photography or writing contest, coz lots of contests have been centred around those themes.

This contest sounds like a ton of fun and I am disappointed that I cannot take part in it.

For more information see her post on it here.

Thank you for reading!

Are you doing Camp NaNo? What’s your book about? Are you going to join Starling’s contest? Have you already joined Starling’s contest? ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Oh my gosh, I feel the same way! I’m writing a 50,000 word story for Camp Nano too! Have you done it before? I’m super excited because I haven’t! Your story sounds amazing too!

      1. It’s about a girl who’s best friend come girlfriend walked off a bridge and killed herself three years prior to the book’s setting. Pretty much it’s about how she learns to deal with her death three years on and how much she finds out about Lilia that she didn’t previously know. It’s rather, um, deep!

  2. Hi there! I found your blog through Arianaโ€™s blog party. Itโ€™s nice to meet you ๐Ÿ™‚ <3 I did Camp a few summers ago, and I was so happy that it got me writing a story I had been wanting to begin for so long! I reached my word count goal within the month (30k), but never completed that draft. Iโ€™m currently working on another book at the moment, but Iโ€™m not participating in Camp this month. Maybe I will in July! Wishing you the best of luck on your story – it sounds really interesting! <3

    1. Hey Maggie! ๐Ÿ˜€ Nice to meet you too! Oh very cool, that’s too bad. What’s your current one about? (If you don’t mind me asking) Thank you <3

      1. Itโ€™s another Christian historical fiction novel, haha! I keep working on new drafts, searching for the right one to write. ๐Ÿ™‚ Youโ€™re welcome! <3

I love comments!! The only thing I ask is that you keep them clean. Thank you! :D
