Silly Putty: A DIY

Hello! Happy Monday everyone! Today is going to me a slightly complex and different post! I am showing you how to make Silly Putty! Thank you Claire for helping me! Also this Friday’s post is going to be a little shorter than normal because I will be in LA!! But don’t worry I will try to take lots of pictures! 😀

What you’ll need:

  • Borax
  • Elmer’s Glue
  • Water
  • Bowl, spoon, cup, and measuring spoons/cups
  • Containers ( we use Easter eggs 😛 )
  • Food Coloring

Measure out 1/4 cup of glue into a measuring cup.

Pour that into the bowl and scrape the sides of the measuring cup with a spoon. Then decide on what color you want your silly putty to be.

We decided on green. Stir until everything is your chosen color.

Now you have to make a Borax Solution. Take a cup and add 1/4 cup of water into it (the water looks white because we used the same measuring cup for water as for the glue) then add 1/4 teaspoon of borax and mix it up.

Add the solution to the silly putty in the bowl and start stirring.

It’s starting to come together! 🙂 If there is any excess water drain it into a cup.

Once it gets too hard to stir, take it out and start kneading! WARNING: DURING THIS ACTIVITY YOUR HANDS MIGHT GET A LITTLE MESSY!!! 😛

If there are any sticky spots dip them into the liquid you drained earlier.

My sister says that it should stay in an air tight container.

Mess around with different colors and have fun! 😀

Thank you for reading! <3
